Technical textiles

THE BEST FOR BELTS, CORDS, STRIPS AND MEDICAL TEXTILES

Processing industrial fabrics automatically

Whether belts, ropes, wound dressings or other medical textiles, Metzner machines are made for processing industrial fabrics automatically to save time and money and at the same time ensure consistently high quality. Fraying is prevented.

Metzner offers you various universal cutting machines with which you can cut to length, drill, punch or, for example, make a contour cut. Metzner also offers machines that automatically process technical textiles for composite materials made of technical textiles as well as rubber or steel, for example. The machine concepts are very different and can also be adapted precisely to your processes. This provides manufacturers of safety belts, strips and ropes for various applications and manufacturers of wound dressings and medical textiles with an optimum solution.

A fully automatic cutting machine

The Metzner Variocut concept stands for a fully automatic process: so-called recipes are defined for processing the material. An operator, who does not need to be familiar with the material or the processing, starts the process. It then runs fully automatically as specified in the recipe, which you can protect with a password. To do this, the machine applies pneumatic pressure to the inserted material. The Variocut is therefore only suitable for pressure-insensitive materials.

It cuts technical textiles with maximum dimensions of 95 mm x 30 mm | 3 47/64” x 1 3/16” (width x height). There are tools for punching, shearing and drawing cuts, which can be changed extremely easily. It goes without saying that the machine recognizes whether the operator has inserted the correct tool for the task. The Variocut software can also be adapted to your processes on request.

Very intelligent cutting machine

Metzner’s ST-OB differs fundamentally from the Variocut. The pressure that the machine exerts on the material can be very finely adjusted. Also, the ST-OB works fully automatically. A skilled operator can – but does not have to – influence the process. This can be a considerable advantage in the field of processing technical textiles, as the operator can even respond to minimal differences in the batches. The ST-OB cuts textiles measuring 150 mm x 30 mm  | 5 29/32” x 1 3/16. The cylinder specially manufactured for this extremely durable and robust machine works precisely and can develop a great deal of force. A maximum of 150 high-precision cuts per minute are possible.

All parameters are of course adjustable and programmable and can be called up via the recipes. The tools for punch, shear, pull and blade cutting can also be changed quickly and easily. What’s more, the ST-OB’s software can be adapted to your needs. A wide range of pre- and post-processing solutions is also available.

Modulare cutting machine Metzner MBS

The Metzner MBS is a fully developed modular system that allows you to choose from around 10,000 possible combinations. The Metzner MBS is available for material up to 100 mm | 3 15/16wide, up to 200 mm | 7 7/8 wide and up to 390 mm | 1′ 3 23/64 wide. Countless knives, drills and punching units are available .Two tools can be used simultaneously in each machine. Tools can be changed quickly and easily and can also be reordered. Metzner can also design customized tools for you.

With the MBS, you can cut all non-reinforced textiles such as ropes, belts, tapes or wound dressings with precision. Each machine can also be adapted to your requirements. This applies not only to the programming, but also to the pre- and post-processing solutions.

Customized and tailored machines

Some tasks cannot be solved with standard machines. In such cases, Metzner uses as many standard components as possible thanks to the completely modular concept of the machines and adds new developments as required. This was the case, for example, when it came to cutting steel-reinforced ropes to length in such a way that neither the rope nor the steel would fray, as these ropes are used for playground equipment in public spaces. In addition, the ropes, which are up to 6 m | 19′ 8 7/32” long, had to be neatly laid down for this project in such a way that the operator did not have to remove them immediately.
