Is there a machine that has been specially developed for the automatic cutting of medical tubing?

Cuts are particularly accurate and fine. The pressure exerted on the material during cutting is reduced to the physically possible minimum. And the machine is of course made of stainless steel, it is the Metzner KL-BV.

Which machine for cutting medical tubes?

Accepted Answer

Since medical tubes are usually made of silicone, which is very sensitive to pressure, but must not show any pressure marks after processing, a special machine is required. The machine should work with the lowest possible impact on the material. To achieve this, the blade must be as thin as possible and the first point of contact as small as possible. In addition, the feed pressure and speed must be adjustable. That is, why the Metzner KL-BV works with knives starting at 0.1 mm | 0.004". The knife hits the tube not from the top, but comes from an angle. If this is not sensitive enough, moistening is possible. The KL-BV is used to prepare medical tubes for e.g. catheters.

Yes, and it is especially developped for cutting, slitting and punching tubes and hoses for medical tech applications. The ultra thin knife touches the silicone in just one point. The pressure can still be reduced by moistening. Also the speed can be adapted to the material. With full speed it cuts 1 m | 3' 3 3/8" per second. And of course, the Metzner KL-BV is available in stainless steel.

Yes, it exists. The blade is very thin (starting at 0.1 mm | 0.004"), it does not cut like a guillotine, but hits the material at an angle from above. Contact with the material is reduced to the physically possible minimum. If this is not yet sensitive enough, the material can also be moistened automatically.
